About the project

The EDUPRIS project aimed to transform the educational experience for young offenders and reduce disparities in learning outcomes, improve the quality of education through integrated methods, and emphasize the essential role of education in the criminal correctional justice system. The main goal of the EDUPRIS project was to improve educational outcomes in juvenile correctional settings by actively promoting inclusive learning environments. The project also aimed to enhance the management and professional development of teaching and learning professionals within the juvenile justice systems across partner countries and at the European level. This was achieved by supporting teachers, educators, and leaders in educational institutions!

Practical Teaching Method

The project developed a practical method for working with children and young adults in correctional settings. This was formalized into a comprehensive manual for teachers, providing them with the tools and strategies needed to engage effectively with young offenders.

European Community Passport Toolbox

This innovative resource included a variety of auxiliary materials such as games, pictures, and small objects designed to evaluate and implement learning contexts. The toolbox was a concrete and practical aid for educators working in challenging environments.

The project established a support system for teachers and professionals from both the justice and education sectors who interact with children and youth in correctional settings. This mechanism included competencies, self-development tools, and practical materials to assist in their work.

EDUPRIS initiative helped to open prison and alternative detention settings to the culture of lifelong learning, emphasizing the importance of continuous education even within the justice system. Teachers were better equipped to navigate the challenges of working in juvenile justice settings, particularly during their first days on the job, thanks to the tools and strategies provided by the project.
